East Avenue Middle School (EAMS) students claimed first prize in each of its grade levels for the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) American History Essay Contest. The contest was open to all students in grades 5 8. The Josefa Higuera Livermore Chapter selected one winner from each grade.

EAMS students took the Essay Contests. American History Essay Contest. Christopher Columbus Essay Contest. DAR partnered with the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) in 1996 to sponsor an annual national essay contest in honor of Christopher Columbus.

The contest is open to students in grades nine through twelve.
